Biography.

He is the son of the renowned Evolved Alpha Werewolf Talia Hale, the younger brother of Laura Hale, the older brother of Cora Hale, the nephew of Peter Hale and the maternal cousin of Malia Tate.As a born Beta Werewolf in the centuries-old Hale Pack, Derek grew up knowing about the supernatural and embracing his lycanthropy. However, after the majority of his family was killed in a house fire set by Kate Argent and her co-conspirators when he was in his late teens, Derek and his sister Laura fled to New York for several years before they were both lured back home in late 2011.Shortly afterward, Laura was murdered in order for her killer to steal her Alpha powers, forcing Derek to track and battle against this mysterious and vengeful new Alpha, only to learn that it was actually his uncle Peter Hale, who sought to create a new pack with which to get revenge on those who orchestrated the Hale House Fire. Upon learning that Peter's killing of Laura was premeditated and not an accident like he claimed, Derek teamed up with Peter's first Beta, Scott McCall and his friends, along with Hunters Allison and Chris Argent, to kill him. It was Derek that gave him the killing blow in retribution for killing Laura, which caused Derek to gain Peter's Alpha status.Sometime later, when Derek realized the Alpha Pack intended to recruit him, he began biting and turning several teenagers in hopes of building his own pack to help fight against them. Derek chose to bite Jackson Whittemore, Isaac Lahey, Erica Reyes, and Vernon Boyd III, though only the latter three actually joined the pack. The first became a Kanima, controlled by Gerard Argent - which they had to deal with. And once that was handled - Jackson left for London.Later, Derek's pack expanded to included Peter and his newly returned younger sister, Cora. But his pack was short-lived, as the original three Betas left the pack. Boyd and Erica left together to avoid fighting the Alpha Pack, who only wanted Derek. Isaac bonded with Scott and his pack, joining them when Derek forfeited his Alpha status in order to heal Cora from mistletoe poisoning - who returned to South America - making him a Beta once more but he did not align himself with Scott, making him more of an Omega.Though he left town shortly afterward dealing with the Alpha Pack, he later returned to Beacon Hills a much more relaxed and content man. After the events of the Deadpool and his surprise development into an Evolved Werewolf, Derek once again left town for a while, where he was presumed to be traveling alone, as he had no pack ties to Beacon Hills - Isaac left after Allison's death for France. Erica and Boyd had not been heard of since their original departure. And he was on tense terms with Peter.However, he did come back in Beacon Hills after hearing that Scott needed his help, and bumped into Stiles on the way back to Beacon Hills; Derek had been framed for several mass murders that were actually carried out by Hunters against supernatural creatures, part of Gerard Argent and Tamora Monroe's international crusade to commit genocide against them. Two years after the defeat of the Anuk-ite and temporary win against Monroe's Army, Derek was seen still being an ally of the McCall Pack who was aiding his friends in finding orphaned supernatural creatures and welcoming them into their ranks.Fast forward to 2026, Derek is working with Sheriff Stilinski, as a supernatural consultant to the Sheriff's department. He's settled into his old family land, rebuilding the Hale house by hand. Derek does not have a son. Eli does not exist in Derek's main timeline.Once the Nogitsune was freed from his prison and returned to Beacon Hills - it's mission became to finally kill Scott, Derek, and the rest of the McCall Pack.Though the McCall Pack and their allies managed to kill the Oni with the assistance of the newly-resurrected Allison Argent, the Nogitsune proved to be too powerful to be contained.Derek ultimately decided to sacrifice his life to ensure the destruction of the Dark Kitsune and kept the creature immobilized to allow Jordan Parrish to incinerate them both to death with his Hellhound powers.In those final moments, unbeknownst to Derek, the kitsune's foxfire was transfered to him, thus protecting him from the Hellfire used to incinerate the Nogitsune.But for Derek's willing sacrifice, he is now a True Alpha; one of the most virtuous of werewolves. And his goal is to reunite his pack: to find Erica, Boyd, Isaac, and Cora.
